The PlayStation 5’s Accolades system encourages good online behavior

We all play online from time to time and the more you do that, the more you come into contact with less pleasant types. Sony has had enough of that and introduces the so-called Accolades system with the PlayStation 5. With this you can reward people you play against with prizes. You can give prizes for Helpfulness, Kindness and Sportsmanship. This can be done under your own name or anonymously. The prizes will then appear on the profile page of the relevant player.

Thanks to GameSpot we now know that you can only give out one prize per multiplayer match. That person may not be on your friends list and you are limited to one price per day. It remains to be seen how this will work out in practice, but so far reporting has not improved the situation. Positive encouragement to be kinder may work, but screaming teenagers will likely continue to insult your mother.
