The pilgrims’ hostel in Burgos reopens its doors today – La Guía GO!


The Association of Friends of the Way has decided to reopen the doors of the Burgos pilgrims hostel. The opening comes after six months of closure due to the coronavirus crisis.

Burgos will welcome pilgrims again from this Tuesday, September 15. After six months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago has returned to reopen the doors of the pilgrims’ hostel in Burgos. The entity has decided to reopen to provide accommodation and services to pilgrims who pass through the city, who have regretted throughout the summer having to pass through the capital in search of another hostel.

The facilities, located in the Casa de los Cubos, on Fernán Gonález street, It will open from 1 to 10 p.m. This decision has been taken by the Association to be able to provide service to passers-by on the Jacobean route, despite the fact that the City Council has not yet approved the agreement related to this site. These grants amount to a total of 50,000 euros, intended to cover the costs of personnel, supplies and maintenance.

Despite this, they have decided to welcome pilgrims again in a facilities that will comply with current regulations. To do this, they have followed all the recommendations and preventive measures related to the anti-Covid protocol. In addition, they have reduced capacity and placed screens in common spaces.

Burgos is a designated city along the French Way. Its architecture and gastronomy make it mandatory stop for all the pilgrims who make the Jacobean route and pass through the city. The hostel is a key point for travelers to enjoy the capital. The opening of the facilities will also benefit from the new innovations to carry out the Camino, such as the ‘LoT Shelters’ tool, which will allow you to find out the places available in the different shelters on the route.
