The Pichy Boys speak out against the Miami Marlins: “Exile has memory” – 2024-04-16 07:48:26

The comedy duo Los Pichy Boys spoke out against the Miami Marlins event in commemoration of Cuban Heritage Day, to be held on May 18 at LoanDepot Park.

Through an official statement, the comedians expressed their rejection of the event, and recalled what happened in March 2023, during the V World Baseball Classic that was held in Miami, Florida.

The Pichy highlighted the seriousness of the fault of the local team, which during the game between the teams of Cuba and the United States, prevented the Cubans from demonstrating against the dictatorship of the Island, present symbolically in the national team.

And the Marlins prevented all fans from entering the stadium who were wearing sweaters with the slogan “Patria y Vida”, posters, or flags with the same legend.

“This exile has a memory and there are more of us worthy Cubans,” said Alejandro González and Maikel Rodríguez on their official Instagram account.

The actors are among the main famous opponents of exile, always maintaining a clear stance against the Cuban dictatorship and in favor of a change in the political system on the Island.

They denounce the economic and social situation of the country, support sporadic uprisings, and use humor to mock the leadership and the deceased dictators through satire, which is why they once again speak out on behalf of the Cuban exile.

“Respect for the Cuban exile in Miami must be something that is in the blood of every Cuban who emigrates to this city,” the text states.

“For us Cubans, everything, absolutely everything! It’s politics! Art, sports, everything! We left our beautiful Cuba due to political problems! “We didn’t come to Miami because of the weather or to eat bread and steak!” the comedians clarify.

The response is a clear direct response to those who defend artists who collaborate with the regime, mentioning that “they are musicians, not politicians” or that “it is not their topic”, something very common among followers of singers like El Micha, El Taiger or Lenier Mesa. .

“We want to make clear in this statement, once again, our rejection of any event that includes the Miami Marlins. The unfortunate events that occurred during the World Classic and the way in which a part of our exile was treated was not up to par and until the management publicly apologizes to the Cuban community, I ask all worthy Cubans to never return to the stadium,” they concluded.

The Pichy Boys have maintained that position since last year, when they even asked their fans to boycott the team by stopping attending their games, a decision they maintain to this day in the absence of a public apology from the team.

“They have not yet apologized to the Cubans of South Florida for ‘dropping their pants’ in the face of the Castro-Canel dictatorship. They continue to run campaigns with Cuban artists and influencers who are only motivated by the interest of money,” they denounced a few days ago.

His position is completely opposite to that of the Cuban singer Leoni Torres, who agreed to sing the Cuban anthem on May 18 at the aforementioned cultural event. According to him, it will be “on behalf of the Cubans,” although he has received hundreds of criticisms for accepting the offer.
