The first snowfall of the year has arrived in New York: only on Thursday almost 17 centimeters fell, more than the 12 fallen in the entire winter season of 2019-2020, he did know the National Weather Service, the National Weather Service. Mayor Bill de Blasio wrote on Twitter that “for years, we haven’t faced such a challenge.”
This was one of the biggest storms we’ve seen in years, with almost 11 inches in the Bronx and 5-8 inches across the city. @NYCSanitation is up to the task and cleanup is under way. pic.twitter.com/zvBN7etqCe

The snow, in fact, brought with it the usual inconveniences: the schools have been closed, there have been traffic problems, motorway accidents, hundreds of flights have been canceled, trains suspended and many roads have been closed, making travel around the holidays even more complicated. One of the most important problems it’s about the plight of the homeless. Many associations that look after their rights have asked the municipality to allocate them the free rooms of the hotels, largely empty due to the coronavirus. Others are trying to persuade the homeless to spend the night in shelters set up for them, but several avoid them for fear of being robbed or contracting the coronavirus.
The rest of us, safe and thousands of kilometers away, are left with only the usual magnificent images of the snowy city, which make us think of Christmas movies and the nostalgia of not even being able to imagine being there, at least this year.
