The photographers-in-training have followed intensive photography training in recent weeks and have therefore been prepared for their participation The Perfect Picture. Their first shoot immediately demands the creative utmost from the candidates, because they have to take a blooper photo. The images must show a household appliance that is not working properly: “We all know that,” says Tijl Beckand approvingly.
His assumption turns out to be incorrect, because Frans does not know that feeling at all: “I dare to say that I do little or nothing with appliances in the house.” Fortunately, the folk singer does not do anything at all at home, because he is very good at ‘lounging on the couch, watching television and having a barbecue’.
The candidates photograph in pairs, where they are each other’s subjects. One of the pairs is formed by Frans and Loes. They work with a vacuum cleaner and – Frans’ specialty – a barbecue.
They distribute the household products in the holiday home; Loes gets the vacuum cleaner and Frans of course the barbecue. “How nice it is to see a lady behind a barbecue in the rain, in lingerie,” says Frans with a wink. Joking or not, Loes thinks it’s a good idea and actually goes outside half-naked.
When Loes arrives with only a towel around her body, Frans decides to light the barbecue: “I want a big flame and smoke.”
And he does that a little better than he intended: in no time the whole house is full of black smoke. “It just really went wrong,” said Frans. The wind is in such a way that all the smoke hits the house. “It is serious,” Loes also concludes. Fortunately for Frans, he manages to take a good photo through this chaos, because Loes’ startle reaction is exactly what he was looking for. “That was the photo for me,” says Frans.
