The Pentagon answered whether Ukraine will receive long-range shells for HIMARS – UNIAN

The US Secretary of Defense noted that now the Ukrainian army has something to work with.

The United States is providing Ukraine with HIMARS rocket launchers with a range of 80 kilometers. The supply of long-range projectiles with a range of 300 km depends on many factors.

This was announced at a briefing on July 20 by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

“The range of HIMARS shells (which Ukraine – UNIAN receives) is 80 kilometers. And this is quite a long distance. We will continue to give the opportunity to shoot at distant targets that they (Ukraine) could not reach before, and, in my opinion, they are enough effectively hit targets,” Austin said.

The head of the Pentagon noted that he is constantly in contact with his Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny on the supply of weapons and defense needs of Ukraine. To a clarifying question whether Ukraine will receive long-range shells for HIMARS in the future, Austin replied: “What they (the Ukrainian military – UNIAN) have and what they work with gives them great potential. This (deliveries of long-range shells – UNIAN) will depend on how they will wage war and what their needs are“.
