The mentors of the campaign are five Latvian artists: Helena Heinrihsone, Katrīna Neiburga, Kristians Brekte, Kristaps Ancāns and Miķelis Mūrnieks, who in turn invite everyone to create light objects or performances in their homes or workplaces.
On social media with a theme #staromajas published pictures or videos of light designs will participate in the competition, the winner of which will be determined by a joint vote of the jury and the audience. It will start on November 22 at 22 and will continue for exactly two days until the evening of November 24. The jury will first evaluate the uniqueness of the created light design idea, as well as the use of different materials, the quality of performance and visibility in the urban environment.
Promotions # Staro at home participants can draw inspiration from the already mentioned five Latvian artists – Helena Heinrihsone, Katrīna Neiburga, Kristiana Brekte, Kristaps Ancāns and Miķelis Mūrnieks – Staro Riga communication channels on the Internet. In them, artists offer various interpretations of the creation of light objects and performances, which residents are invited to follow or discover their creative spirit and, inspired by the artists’ ideas, to create their own light works.
Practical recommendations for creating light designs are also offered by educational institutions and teachers of interest in Riga, and they can be viewed On the website of the Riga Interest Education Methodological Center.
Institutions and art schools, companies and groups of friends are also invited to participate in the campaign, creating a sense of celebration in Riga at a time when Latvia is celebrating its birthday.
