The outbreak of meningitis in Mexico came from private clinics

A seven-year-old boy residing in Texas, United Statess, tested positive for meningitis after undergoing ordiopexy surgery at Del Parque Private Hospital, July 27, being the only case of an infected newborn, despite reports of operations in six other babies, as detailed the Secretary of State for Health, Irasema Kondo Padilla .

The Mexican boy had received his medical discharge following the procedure. While in the US, just a week later, he started having severe migraines. The boy’s parents went to various health centers there but could not find the cause, so they believed he was suffering from depression and took him to a hospital in the Mexican city of Sombrerete, where his relatives live. After a cerebrospinal puncture inside the 450 Polyclinic, it was ascertained that the child had meningitis, the same place where there are 28 hospitalized for the same pathogen, seven others are in the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers.
