Scientists have equipped a telescope that is claimed to be the most powerful on Earth. This telescope is equipped with the latest technology that can reveal how the Milky Way galaxy was formed in detail.
The technology is in the William Hersche Telescope (WHT) in La Palma, Spain. This telescope is claimed to be able to survey 1,000 stars per hour for a total of five million stars.
The WHT will be connected to a super-fast mapping tool that will analyze each star and the speed at which it travels. The method aims to find out how the Milky Way formed over these billions of years.
The instrument which was later referred to as “weave” was developed by Professor Gavin Dalton from the University of Oxford. Dalton also said if the tool is ready to use.
Great scientists put together a mission to find the origin of the stars we often see at night.
They installed a WHT on the top of a mountain in the Canary Islands, Spain, with the name WHT Enhanced Area Velocity Explorer. There are 80,000 separate parts that exist in the tool. This is a miracle of a man-made engineering technology.
WHT will later designate each piece of the sky for identification. These nimble robotic fingers will carefully and precisely place optical fibers at each plate location.
The fibers are small telescopes, each capable of capturing light from one star and transmitting it to other instruments. The fibers will then divide it again into a rainbow spectrum which is the answer to the secret of the origin and history of these stars.
The process will be completed in one hour. While at work, the optical fiber used for the thousand stars will be positioned upside down from the plate. The goal is to analyze the next set of tags even though the previous survey was completed.
Keep in mind that a galaxy is basically a spiral-shaped vortex consisting of 400 billion stars. The Milky Way itself is a collection of fairly small stars over billions of years.
Weave’s presence can help scientists calculate the speed, direction, age, and composition of each observed star. From there it will form a moving image of the stars in the Milky Way.
