The Metro and the City of Inglewood have signed an agreement to implement improvements to the Metro First / Last Mile program that will serve city stations such as Fairview Heights, Downtown Inglewood, Westchester / Veterans Stations and Crenshaw C Line Station. First / last mile services will improve safety, promote and improve walking, and add flowerpots, benches and better access to stations for cyclists.

As one of three stations serving Inglewood, the station will also provide essential transportation links for commuters to South Bay, Downtown Los Angeles and Westside via the E (Expo) Line Link. Another nearby station, Aviation / Century, is expected to open in the fall of 2023 and will provide access to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and is one stop off the C (green) line.

The Airport Metro Connector (AMC) project will provide a link to the LAX People Mover and is scheduled to commence operations in late 2024, offering Inglewood residents access to the airport by train for the first time.

During the opening ceremony of the metro station, the agency also celebrated the importance of art in the stations. Officials recognized Downtown Inglewood Station with a commemorative pin contest won by high school student Cecilia Vázquez.

All stations on the K Line feature works of art commissioned through the Metro Art program. The artists were selected through a competitive process following the recommendations of a group of professional artists from the community.
