“After two years of travel restrictions, the influx of foreign tourists can be felt in Liepaja and throughout Latvia. The city’s guests still appreciate the wide and high-quality cultural and sports offer, the proximity to nature and the urban environment. The hospitality sector is also reviving. The average length of stay in Liepāja accommodation in the first three months of the year was 1.76 nights. The number of Latvian tourists in Liepāja accommodation establishments has increased by 36.8% and it was 10,692 persons, but the number of nights spent – by 34.1%, making a total of 18,033 nights, while the average length of stay of local tourists in the 1st quarter of this year was 1.7 night.
The number of foreign guests increased 3.8 times (2,944 persons) and the number of nights spent increased 2.5 times (5,940 nights). The length of stay of foreign tourists in Liepāja accommodation in the first three months of this year was about two nights.
In the first quarter of this year, guests from 52 foreign countries spent the night in Liepaja. The most windy city visited by tourists from Lithuania (803 overnight stays; an increase of almost 11 times) followed Estonia (373; an increase of 5.6 times), Denmark (201; +8.7 times) Germany (193; +2.6 times) Great Britain (156; +10,4 %), Russia (145; +43,6%); Ukraine (107; +2.4 times) and Poland (106; +39,5%).
In the first three months of this year, 1,199 visitors were served in the Liepāja Region Tourism Information Bureau.
