According to preliminary data of NSI in the fourth quarter of 2023 the gross domestic product
(GDP) per employee increased in real terms by 0.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous one
year.
Employed persons in the economy are 3,388.1 thousand, and the total number of hours worked is 1,406.6 million. The structure of employment by economic sector in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022 shows an increase in the relative share in the service sector and a decrease in the relative share in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
In the Agricultural sector, 14,800 people were employed in the fourth quarter of 2022, and 14,500 in 2023.
One employed person accounts for BGN 15,302.9 of the current volume of gross domestic product (GDP), and each employed person creates an average of BGN 36.9 GDP per hour worked. Gross value added (GVA) per employee on average in the fourth quarter of 2023 was at the same level compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, and GVA per person-hour worked increased by 0.1% in real terms.
According to preliminary data, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the level of productivity on labor in the service sector it is BGN 15,111.5 BDS on average per employed person and BGN 35.5 per man-hour worked. In the industrial sector, each employee produces an average of BGN 13,124.2 GST, for one man-hour worked, an average of BGN 31.0 is created from the current volume of the indicator. Labor productivity is the lowest in the agricultural sector – BGN 2,126.2 BDS per employee and BGN 6.0 per man-hour worked.
