Fifty reports to the Groningen Mining Damage Institute (IMG) came from the so-called area of effects, the area around the epicenters of earthquakes. IMG received 86 reports from a wider area. Damage reports were received from the places of Groningen, Hoogezand and Zuidhorn, among others.
In addition to Uithuizermeeden and Uithuizen, the effects area also includes places like Loppersum, Middelstum and Roodeschool. On Saturday, two similar reports had been received by Uithuizen. After the inspection, it was found that there was no need to take safety measures.
According to the institute, 27 applicants opted for fixed compensation of 5,000 euros to cover the damage. The others opted for a so-called personalized procedure. In this case, an expert will visit to investigate the cause and extent of the damage. It is also possible to have the damage repaired instead of compensation.
