The Noisiest and Quietest Districts of Paris Revealed: Study by Seloger

Are you planning to move in the coming weeks, but are you worried about the noise of the Parisian streets? A study conducted by Seloger highlights the three noisiest districts and those which, conversely, are much quieter.

The frantic pace and the constant noise of the city can sometimes make you want to give up everything to settle in a country house. And when we are housing search, neighborhood noise level can quickly turn out to be a criterion that can tip the scales to one side… or the other. To help you in your steps, Seloger has carried out a study which reveals the noisiest areas of the capital.

The 17th and 18th top the list

Known for being the borough that hosts major tourist sites like the Moulin Rouge, the Sacré-Coeur basilica and the Montmartre district, the 18th is clearly not the quietest corner of Paris. With a ” sound intensity of 59.1 decibels », it is even the one that the study places in the first position of the noisiest neighborhoods. “This high sound intensity is mainly attributed to the large concentration of terraces, restaurants and bars “, she explains.

The 17th does not arrive very far from its neighbor, with a sound intensity which amounts to 56.5 decibels. Less touristy, its noise level is mainly explained by the many construction works that take place there. The Batignolles district, where the ZAC Clichy-Batignolles is located, is particularly highlighted.

The 7th following the podium

If the study lists only three boroughs as being the noisiest, the 7th is no exception with its 55.7 decibels. The district of Gros-Cailloulocated between the Champ-de-Mars and the Invalides, is particularly singled out because it includes “main arteries” which generate the presence of a large number of vehicles.

Two boroughs qualified as “quieter”

Noisy neighborhoods Paris, yes, but the study also names two that are much calmer. THE 2nd district turns out to be much less agitated, in particular because of « its low population density ». By his side, the 9ethat the “small streets” and the “green spaces” make more calm and peaceful.
