The New York-Montreal train service reopens on April 3, 2023.

From Montreal, the train will connect tourist areas such as Ticonderoga and Saratoga Springs. And of course New York.

Amtrak’s popular Adirondack line between Montreal and New York is scheduled to resume operation on April 3, 2023, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibran announced. After a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19, it will once again be possible to travel on this scenic train that takes travelers through the Hudson Valley and eastern Adirondacks.

Connecting Montreal Central Station to Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station in Manhattan, it stops at 17 stations and takes 10 hours to connect the two cities. A journey longer than a road trip. But this additional option – in addition to bus and plane – is considered one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. It is also very popular with North Americans (117,000 passengers in 2019). And it’s also a greener trip.

Amtrak has not officially confirmed the information from the New York representative. Tickets are not yet on sale. The American railway company has already relaunched its two other trains serving Canada. The Maple Leaf line, between Toronto and New York, resumed in June 2022. Cascades service — connecting Vancouver to Oregon and Washington — was relaunched in September.
