Again this year we witnessed the New Year’s derby. Slavia and Sparta meet almost every year on the last possible day of the year, and again we will not lose quality players or legends from our clubs. In which formations will both teams start?
The 36th edition of the New Year’s derby is already on the agenda today. As usual, it will take place on Eden’s artificial turf, close to Slavia’s main stadium.
We can expect two matches, the first of which will be provided by the national teams. The match starts at 10 and we can expect a huge crowd.
For example, Karel Piták, Ivo Táborský and Jiří Bílek excel at Slavia, while Sparta field Marek Matějovský, Tomáš Hübschman and David Lafata.
Sparta dominated the match last year, with an 11:4 lead. All three of the aforementioned Spartans shined, with Lafata and Matějovský netting a total of eight goals.
We can also look forward to the Veterans game. It should start an hour later and will be played by players over the age of 45. There are several names here as well that fans can surely look forward to.
Slavia’s squad includes stormtroopers Pavel Řehák, Luboš Kozel or Ivo Ulich, Sparta will use Jaromír Blažek, Horst Siegel or Jan Koller.
The last game ended in a draw 5:5, but this time Sparta will be the favorites thanks to the younger team. If you don’t come directly to the venue, you can watch the program on the screens of the ČT Sport station.
