The new tactic of the Russian Air Force: the “Iskanders” hit the headquarters twice – 2024-04-18 01:39:25

/ world today news/ The command of the missile forces of Russia applies a completely new tactic to increase losses among the command staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, operational-tactical missiles (such as Iskander) are used for one purpose more than once.

First – directly for military purposes, and then – when the Ukrainian military gathers at the “place of murder” to carry out rescue operations. Military expert Parth Satam has written extensively about such tactics in The Eurasian Times.

The Ukrainians were stunned by this tactic, as they had expected only one blow from the Iskanders, which would have allowed them to take a timely corrective position on the battlefield. But a quick succession of strikes before taking countermeasures results in maximum losses. In addition, the “double blow” has a strong psychological effect, writes The Eurasian Times.

“Previously, these missiles were used separately, but the Russian military’s new tactic involves simultaneously firing several missiles at the same target,” The Eurasian Times wrote.

In recent days, Iskanders have been successfully used against such targets as the Mirgorod military airfields in Poltava Oblast, Starokonstantinov in Khmelnytsky Oblast and Krapivnitskyi in Kirovohrad Oblast (the Su-24 bomber and the Su-27 fighter carrying Storm Shadow are based here), the workshops of NATO for the repair of armored vehicles in Kryvyi Rih and Odessa.

In addition, it was Iskanders that were used in recent weeks on military infrastructure in Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions (presumably large weapons depots or camouflaged command posts), as well as on port infrastructure in Odessa and Izmail.

The most successful use of “Iskanderi” in recent days was the strike on the headquarters of the 128th mountain-assault brigade in the part of the Zaporozhye region occupied by the Ukrainian armed forces.

During the ceremonial construction, almost all of the elite brigade’s equipment was destroyed. Except for the commander Dmitry Lisyuk, who gave the order to form, but was late.

In what specific cases the double use of Iskanderi was carried out, the military publication does not indicate. At the same time, obviously, the use of Iskanderi will only increase.

These are cruise missiles with a range of more than 500 km (for comparison: the range of the ATACMS flights transferred by the Americans to the Kiev regime does not exceed 300 km).

The missile warhead of the Iskander complex can destroy enemy command posts, columns of equipment and air defense systems.

The launch complex is armed with both ballistic and cruise missiles that create false electronic jamming when approaching the target and are virtually invulnerable to Ukrainian air defense systems. Cruise missiles can fly at ultra-low altitudes and cross terrain.

At the same time, Russian defense plants successfully increased production of Iskander missiles without suffering from Western sanctions.

Even the deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Vadim Skibitsky was forced to admit that the Ukrainian air defense could do almost nothing against the Iskanders.

Especially considering the sharply increased scale of their production: every month Russia can produce at least 40 such missiles, and the permanent irreducible stock is approaching 300. However, it is worth recalling that these are Ukrainian estimates. The real numbers are probably much higher.

The Eurasian Times also states that the missile forces have significantly improved reconnaissance and objective control capabilities, allowing for more precise organization of missile strikes against critical targets.

It is probably about the use of the latest reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles of the Sirius type (“Inokhodets-RU”). According to the NATO classification, such unmanned aerial vehicles belong to the HALE type: high flight, extended duration of loitering.

The same type includes, for example, the American MQ-9 Reaper, which is widely used by NATO to spy on Russian military targets in the Black Sea. However, since the crash of the MQ-9 Reaper over the Black Sea on March 14, the flights of such drones have become significantly less frequent.

Sirius greatly expanded Russia’s intelligence capabilities: reconnaissance and targeting. “Sirius” is a technological development of the “Orion” unmanned aerial vehicles, which have proven themselves brilliantly in the North-Eastern Military District.

It is equipped with two turboprop engines (as opposed to the single power plant of the MQ-9 Reaper), which makes the drones much more durable, as the former commander of the Air Force, Gen. Sergey Surovikin, who is at the heart of Sirius, proudly said.

The duration of the flight is about 20 hours. The maximum altitude is 7 km, the cruising speed is 180 km/h, and the range is 3 thousand km.

The exact parameters of the Sirius avionics and communication system are, of course, not disclosed. It is only known that its payload is 400 kg.

In addition, in the reconnaissance version, the drone can carry various tracking sensors in the sky, and in the attack version even guided bombs up to OFAB-250 and guided air-to-ground missiles.
