The new Space X capsule will pass over Puerto Rico tonight – NotiCel – The truth as it is – News from Puerto Rico – NOTICEL

The sighting will be between 8:23 and 8:25 p.m.

A brilliant sighting of the International Space Station (ISS) may be appreciated on Sunday night. The space laboratory will appear in the North-Northwest between 8:23 and 8:25 p.m.

“This time, it will be interesting to see it knowing that the Crew Dragon spacecraft is docked there,” said the Caribbean Astronomy Society (SAC), referring to the new spacecraft from the company Space X.

The Crew Dragonon capsule made history on Saturday, May 30, when it took off with two astronauts aboard from Cape Canaveral in Florida, ending a nine-year hiatus without manned travel from U.S. soil.

The ship with astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, docked autonomously to the Station on the morning of last Sunday 31.

Once the hatch was opened, they joined astronaut Christopher Cassidy (from NASA), and Russian cosmonauts Ivan Vagner and Anatoly Ivanishin, who were already aboard the space laboratory.

“There is still a very important part of the mission: to return to Earth aboard the Crew Dragon ship, which will parachute over the sea, with two astronauts on board,” said the SAC, while clarifying it has not yet been determined. the date of return to Earth. Astronauts Behnken and Hurley are anticipated to remain on the ISS for between one and four months.

Regarding the sighting of today Sunday between 8:23 and 8:25 pm, the educational entity indicated that the ISS will look remarkably bright, but then it will give the impression of “disappearing” in the middle of the sky, entering the shadow caused by the Earth with relation to the Sun, and stop reflecting sunlight, he explained.

According to the SAC, two or three minutes later, a dimmer object can be seen following a somewhat similar trajectory, but it is the fuselage of a Titan rocket that in 2005 had carried the Lacrosse 5 spy satellite into space.

Although these sightings would be visible from the Caribbean, the SAC invites its followers in other countries to see when the Station would be visible from their area, entering their location after opening this link: https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/index.cfm.
