As you know, the new PS5 model (CFI-1100) has already appeared in many countries and even Polish players can buy a refreshed version of the console. Austin Evans last month unleashed a storm by confirming that the device received a much smaller heat sink, which, in his opinion, should have a negative impact on the operation of the console. The Digital Foundry disagreed with this opinion, but only now we can check the specific test of the device.
The creator from the Hardware Busters channel confirmed the very positive results of the console – on the material we can see how the author measured the temperature of the internal PS5 components and came to the conclusion that despite the changes: the console is cooler.
According to Hardware Busters testing – the processor of the refreshed PS5 works 11C cooler than the premiere model (40.08C vs 51.15C), but memory performs worse under stress (48.2C vs 40.88C). However, it should be remembered that the creator had access to only one model, so it is difficult to say what the situation will look like with each copy of PlayStation 5.
“They have exactly the same fans, the power consumption is about the same, the speed of the fans as well … The only difference is in the heat sink. You can already see that the heat sink in the new PlayStation 5 works better … Yes, it is smaller and weighs 300g less, but it is more effective. I measured 11C lower CPU temperature on the new PS5 model. The difference in memory … Yes, it was 8C higher in the new model, but the most important thing is the CPU temperature. According to my data, the new heat sink seems to be better. “
