The new eight-core processor will increase the performance of high-end mobile phones

The chip was manufactured using advanced 5nm technology, which offers up to 20 percent lower power consumption and 30 percent higher performance compared to its predecessor.

“High computing power, fast connectivity with 5G technology and an advanced artificial intelligence accelerator are the strengths that make the Exynos 2100 the best for the next generation of smartphones,” said Kyeongjun Kim, executive vice president and general manager of mobile research and development at Samsung mobile division.

The entire chip consists of one extremely powerful Arm Cortex-X1 core, three powerful Cortex-A78 cores and four energy-saving Cortex-A55 cores. An integral part of it is the graphics core Arm Mali-G78, which promises to increase graphics performance by more than 40 percent. Thanks to this, users can look forward to an excellent image and smooth redrawing of the movement in practice.

Advanced image processing technology (ISP) supports camera resolutions of up to 200 megapixels. The processor can be connected to up to six separate image sensors, the signal from four sensors can be processed at once – such could be the flagship of this manufacturer in the coming months.

Thanks to the artificial intelligence accelerator, the ISP unit can recognize various types of images, faces or objects and optimize camera settings. An integrated 5G module is also a matter of course. All phones with this chipset will be able to connect to fifth-generation mobile networks.

The first phones with the new chipset should start selling during January.
