Yesterday, the Netherlands was in the grip of severe weather, with heavy gusts of wind, thunderstorms and hail. Code orange for Groningen, Friesland and the Wadden Islands has been lifted at 01.00 tonight. However, thunderstorms can still occur in Groningen and on some Wadden Islands.
Previously, code orange applied to extreme weather in almost the entire country. Parts of the Netherlands became flooded because there was a lot of rain locally and here and there it even hailed. There were also heavy thunderstorms, captured here beautifully above Schiphol:

The showers have now left most of the country. Code yellow now only applies to Groningen and the eastern Wadden Islands. There, thunderstorms can fall with possible hail and gusts of wind up to about 60 km / h.

Aircraft could temporarily not land at Schiphol due to strong winds and a KLM aircraft from Rome eventually had to divert to Groningen airport.

The showers were accompanied by hail in some places in the Netherlands, but except for flooded streets, the damage seems to be not too bad.
Little damage
A family in Brabant was released with a fright after a large tree fell on their car, reports Broadcasting Brabant. Two homes in Hengelo, Overijssel, were hit by lightning last night, writes RTV East. In Limburg, streets turned into rivers.

Rain again
Tonight the temperature will remain high, with minimums between 19 degrees in the northeast and 15 degrees in the southwest. This morning it will be sunny, with local fog banks, but in the afternoon showers will start again. In some cases these are accompanied by thunderstorms and hail and gusts of wind. Tonight it will be dry again and the wind is and will remain light to moderate.
