Orange means that between 50 and 75 infections per 100,000 inhabitants have been detected in the past fourteen days and that 4 percent or more of the tests were positive. But the same color is also possible in 75 to 200 confirmed infections in 100,000 if less than 1 percent of the tests were positive.
To go green, there must be less than 50 confirmed infections per 100,000 population and less than 4 percent of tests must be positive. Or between 50 and 75 confirmed infections per 100,000 residents and if less than 1 percent of the tests are positive.
The Dutch color codes
Seen from the Netherlands, a yellow travel advice for a European country means that there are risks, but that travel is possible. In this case, a traveler does not have to show a negative test result upon return to the Netherlands and does not have to go into quarantine. This is the case with orange, for example.
Green means there are no risks at all. On the world map of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this only applies to three countries: Poland, Iceland and Romania. However, there may also be entry restrictions upon arrival. For example, unvaccinated travelers in Poland still have to be tested and quarantined for ten days.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs therefore always recommends that you carefully follow the travel advice for destinations. Even if you come from an area that the ECDC has labeled as green.
