The Netherlands evacuates 33 Afghans without a direct Dutch link | Inland

Most of the people who came to the Netherlands since the fall of Kabul this summer were led away in a hurry when the Kabul airport was still controlled by US military personnel. With the Taliban in control there, the evacuations have become more complicated. In principle, the movement does not want to let compatriots leave. The ministry does not want to say how this group of status holders could be removed. It is clear that Qatar has helped.

There are currently about 2000 Afghans in the Netherlands. They were evacuated at the insistence of the House of Representatives. Parliament wanted to bring people to safety who had worked for the Netherlands. This concerns, for example, people who were deployed by the armed forces, for NGOs or for the Dutch media.

Details about the 33 evacuees who left Afghanistan on Monday will not be shared, but since these are status holders, they must have gone through the asylum procedure in the Netherlands in the past.
