“The Negative Effects of Population Increase in Egypt and the “2 Enough” Project by Ministry of Social Solidarity”

The state continues its efforts to pay attention to reproductive health programmes; Family planning programs aim to gradually reduce childbearing rates and slow down population growth. The “2 Enough” project is among the main interventions taken by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in order to achieve its vision of achieving comprehensive social development and implementing integrated programs for human development in poor areas, and including these programs A demographic component to change prevailing reproductive values.

A report prepared by the “Maat” Foundation revealed the many negative effects caused by the population increase in Egypt on the citizen and greatly affect the state’s ability to achieve sustainable development.

The report pointed out that the population increase represents a challenge and an obstacle for the state, especially because it obstructs the path of development, and there is a strong will on the part of the government to control population growth, which constitutes great pressure on the resources and budget of the state, which guarantees the success of a new plan to face this challenge, explaining the great role that the government plays.
