The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2020/2021 season is set to begin on Dec. 1, but league commissioner Adam Silvers said on ESPN television on Thursday that it may be too early.
Currently, the NBA playoffs are taking place in an epidemiological security “bubble” in Orlando, where spectators at the game are barred from attending. But an arena without fans means a significant loss of income for both the league and the clubs. The NBA considered the possibility of starting next season in several safety bubbles, but would like to see spectators return to the game.
“Our number one goal is to bring fans back into the arenas,” Silvers said. “I think if we could push back a bit with the players’ association [sezonas sākumu] a little further and increase the likelihood of fans returning, that would be our goal. ”
On ESPN television, Silvers spoke at a draft lottery event. The lottery became known that the first choice in the draft on October 16 will be the Minnesota “Timberwolves”. With the second number, the Golden State Warriors will be able to choose the team addition, and the Charlotte Hornets will be the third choice.
