The NATO StratCom Center has developed a training platform that will soon be used in extensive international exercises

The information space simulation platform “InfoRange” simulates the modern information space, generating content and reactions of the parties involved to the defined crisis scenario with the help of artificial intelligence. In this type of training, participants learn crisis management skills in the context of hyperthreats.

“We at the NATO Strategic Communication Center of Excellence are constantly challenging ourselves and available technologies to find new opportunities for developing strategic communication capabilities. We have currently developed a unique solution that allows military and strategic communication trainees to work in an information space that looks and reacts the same with the help of artificial intelligence as the real one, giving the opportunity to realize the scale of potential crisis escalation, which often extends beyond the well-known social network platforms. This solution will significantly improve the effectiveness of NATO and partners’ strategic communication campaigns and the defense capabilities of the information space,” emphasizes Jānis, Director of the NATO Strategic Communication Excellence Center Pink.

In cooperation with the NATO Cooperative Cyber ​​Defense Center of Excellence, the InfoRange platform will be used in the annual IT and critical infrastructure defense training Locked Shields 2024, which aims to gather more than 4,000 participants from 40 countries. “Locked Shields 2024” will be held from April 24-25, 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia.

The NATO Strategic Communication Center of Excellence is a NATO-accredited international military organization that is not part of the NATO command structure and is not subordinate to any of the NATO structures.
