The name “iPhone 13” finally confirmed by a stolen video?

While almost all of the likely technical characteristics of the next iPhone seem already known, its name was still subject to much speculation from informants and analysts. Mark Gurman, for example, recently estimated that the mobile would simply be called “iPhone 13” in a newsletter from Bloomberg sent to its subscribers.

Despite everything, the “iPhone 12S” brand had also surfaced here and there. This recalls the codes previously adopted by Apple with, among others, the iPhone XS in September 2018, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus three years earlier or the iPhone 5s in 2013. Often with updates relatively minor to the program, which would also be the case for the upcoming version.

Same name for the large model

However, in a video just shared on Twitter by @PinkDon1, we can see several accessories stamped iPhone 13 Pro Max. This teaches us, potentially, three things:

• the “iPhone 13” nomenclature would be preferred by Apple, and not “iPhone 12S”
• this is the first time that the titles in “S” – for “speed” (“speed”) according to Phil Schiller- would not appear in three years in a row
• the large 6.7-inch model would indeed see the light of day, without changing its name

Calendar: mid-September

The tweet having unfortunately been deleted since its publication, it will be necessary to be satisfied with the image above. Impossible to know what could have led to its deletion, nevertheless we know that Apple tries somehow to fight against this kind of leak and could therefore have perhaps warned its author. The most curious will still have noticed what is very clearly akin to a MagSafe shell, updated for the iPhone 13.

Since it should be released around September 24 according to our calculations, the upstream arrival of such products fits perfectly with this date. The manufacturers of third-party accessories are in fact generally notified several weeks before the official presentations, and then have confidential diagrams allowing them to design their plans in time for the marketing of the new iPhones. This is also, here too, a source of considerable loopholes in the strategy of secrecy organized by Apple around its announcements.
