the musical season resumes on March 12

A trumpet and organ recital is announced for Sunday March 12 at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church. In the spotlight, a duo of musicians: Mathieu Reinert, Franco-Luxembourgish trumpeter, and Christophe Durant, also from Lorraine, keyboardist.

The first, originally from Thionville, began his musical apprenticeship there. He holds a gold medal obtained at the Metz Conservatory, then his career led him to the National Conservatory of Paris. Christophe Durant, for his part, won several prizes at the Metz conservatory. He holds a state diploma, he teaches there as well as at the university.

The duo will offer a surprising recital moving from Baroque Italy to Norwegian folklore and Dutch modernity with Sonata prima de Viviani, sound in my mineur of Haydn, Concerto in E major de Neruda, Suite Peter Prior (four excerpts) from Grieg, The prayer of Saint Gregory de Hovhaness et Praise the lord, the mighty king by Koetsier. An appointment not to be missed.

Around the organ: a beautiful story that continues

In 1996, a group of volunteers organized concerts and musical auditions around the Contzois instrument. In 2001, they created a cultural and musical association called Autour de l’Orgue.

Today with more than 130 members, the association, grouped around its president Laurent Schmit, its secretary, Thomas Herber assisted by Liliane Hammes, its treasurer Pierre Schmit and Yves Licht, assessors and first magistrate of the border village with Schengen, continues to work for the enhancement of heritage and music with its century-old organ.

In 1898, the church of Niederkontz acquired a magnificent instrument, an organ built by the organ builder Franz Staudt. Weighing 7 t, with piping of 29 stops (for 1,800 pipes), the instrument therefore celebrates its 125th anniversary this year!
