Artcurial, a Parisian auction house, put a graphic jewel of the golden age of the Belgian School under the mallet on Saturday: The Pirogue, an original in Indian ink and blue pencil created by André Franquin in 1954. This drawing imagined for the cover of the journal collection Spirou nº49, was auctioned for the record sum of 337,600 euros, thus establishing a new world auction record for a board by André Franquin, the most talented cartoonist of his generation with Albert Uderzo.
