The Most Expensive Cow in the World Sold in Brazil: Viatina-19 FIV Mara Imoveis Breaks Record

KOMPAS.com – A large white cow in Brazil has sold for the most expensive price in the world.

The Nelore cow is 4.5 years old and named Viatina-19 FIV Mara Imoveis, quoted from Newsweek.

Viatina sold for 4.3 million US dollars or around Rp. 64.6 billion in an auction held in Arandu, Brazil.

It was Agropecuaria Casa Branca who sold the cow to Nelore HRO.

Half of the holdings of the same cattle have already been sold in 2022, for around $800,000.

Rock the international livestock market

This sale of Viatina-19 FIV Mara Imoveis confirms the true value of the Nelore race in Brazil.

However, many people are willing to pay for high genetic quality specimens.

These high prices will also shake up international livestock markets, highlighting the breed’s value and cementing its worldwide reputation.

Quoted from Oklohama State UniversityNelore cattle are a race characterized by bright white fur and a prominent hump above its neck.

However, there are many other fundamental differences between the Nelore race and the European race.

They naturally have a high resistance to hotter temperatures.

This is due to its sagging and drooping skin, having twice as large sweat glands and 30 percent more than many European breeds.

Originally from India

This cow actually comes from India which is named after the Nellore district, the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The Nelore is one of the most important breeds in Brazil, mainly because of its endurance and ability to thrive on low quality forages.

This breed of cattle also breeds easily, as the female has a wider pelvic opening and a larger birth canal.

While calves require little interaction from humans to successfully grow to maturity.

Nelores are also resistant to a number of parasitic infections, as the dense texture of their skin makes it more difficult for blood-sucking insects to penetrate.

From Brazil, many of the cattle were exported to Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, Central America, Mexico, the United States and many other countries.
