It is best not to carry Spaargids.beKleinggeld to the bank. Furthermore, you better ensure that your financial institution does not have to make a copy of a transfer you have completed there. Banks have become like gas stations. They prefer to let the customer do the work themselves. But sometimes that doesn’t work and the banker still has to get to work. There is a price tag attached to that. We pick out three things and examine how the largest banks in our country charge them. We also gather some interesting information.

A current account also costs money every month. Would you rather pay nothing? These banks also offer a free current account.

1. Counting change

Have you emptied your daughter or son’s piggy bank and found there were a lot of coins in it? Then it is better to have them changed at the baker or butcher. After all, taking them to the bank can cost quite a bit.

Do you deliver the money to KBC? Then you pay 5 euros per 1,000 coins.

At Belfius, deposits of up to 50 pieces are included in the lump sum of your account. If you offer more than one in a bag, processing them will cost 3.72 euros.

At BNP Paribas Fortis you can hand in five clips of change per day for free at the counter. If it is more, you pay 4 euros for counting a bag weighing up to 10 kg.

ING charges for counting change from the fourth bag of maximum 10 kg. It then costs 4 euros per bag.

2. Copy of a document

You better not be a slob either. Do you want a copy of a payment order that you have delivered to your bank? Then it costs 30.25 euros at KBC. At Belfius it is 20 euros. At BNP Paribas Fortis, looking up an accounting document costs 12 euros. ING charges 18.15 euros for a copy of a document.

At Argenta you can have all documents dated after April 1, 2012 looked up for free by the office staff. This is then on the payroll of the local independent operator of the bank branch. If you want an older piece, the head office has to get to work. In that case you pay 50 euros per form.

3. Manage inheritance

Dying is also not a good decision financially. Belfius charges you 75 euros per year for the management of an estate file if you are over 18. Under that age, the follow-up is free. BNP Paribas Fortis follows the same philosophy. Here, management costs 50 euros per year if the deceased was over 18 years old. At KBC the cost per year is in any case 50 euros.

ING applies a filing fee of 115.25 euros if the deceased was at least 18 years old.

At Argenta you can get away with paying 5 euros per year for the management of an inheritance file.

4. Other extra costs

• If KBC terminates the customer relationship because you do not want to provide certain information in the context of anti-money laundering legislation, this will cost you 100 euros.

• If KBC has to repay the balance on your prepaid credit card, but your account has already been settled, it will withhold 60 euros.

• Do you have a dormant account? Then BNP Paribas Fortis can charge you 10 percent of the assets under management, with a maximum of 200 euros.

• Not having enough money in your account to make a direct debit can be expensive. At ING you pay 7.26 euros for an insufficient balance.
