At least one hundredth of the population of the Czech Republic is currently infected with coronavirus. According to hygienists and the Ministry of Health, 113,000 out of 10.7 million people were currently ill in the country. This is more than one percent of the total population, more precisely 1059 people for every 100 thousand inhabitants.
And experts, including Health Minister Roman Prymula, agree that the real numbers will be higher. Some, especially asymptomatic infections, cannot be detected, for example due to overloaded tracing of contacts of already detected cases.
The state has now started publishing new data on those infected in all more than six thousand municipalities. It turns out that in some of them every fifth or sixth person is infected. These are most often villages or towns with tens to hundreds of inhabitants.
Liblín in the Rokycany region is the worst off. According to the latest available data from the ministry, there are currently 72 infected people out of 272 people who live in the village according to the Czech Statistical Office. However, in this case, hygienists did not find a coronavirus deposit directly among the townspeople, but in the local Social Services Home.
