Both drugs continue to prevent hospitalization of those infected with the new coronavirus
Moderna’s vaccine provides better protection than Pfizer / Biontech against the Indian version of the new coronavirus, Reuters reported, citing two different studies.
The effectiveness of the Moderna preparation against the Delta variety is 76% compared to 42% of the one produced by Pfizer / Biontech, according to data from a study by scientists from the American Mayo Clinic.
The data are from July, when the Indian version began to dominate around the world. At the beginning of the year, the effectiveness of Moderna’s vaccine against Kovid-19 was 86%, and that of Pfizer / Biontech – 76%.
Both drugs continue to prevent hospitalization of those infected with the new coronavirus.
More than 50,000 people took part in the study.
The second study was conducted by Canadian experts from Toronto. It was conducted among seniors in the province of Ontario.
The results also show that patients vaccinated with Moderna have a stronger immune response – especially to the alarming variants of Kovid-19 – than those given Pfizer / Biontech.
Data from both studies were published in the medRxiv electronic library.
