Guard Andris Misters next season will also play Spanish basketball after the strength of the second league or “Leb Oro” team “Melilla”, the club reports.
The 28-year-old Mr. Melilla joined the ranks last year, playing an average of 21 minutes in 24 matches last season, scoring ten points, making 1.4 assists and winning 1.7 rebounds. Meanwhile, his Melilla team took ninth place in the tournament table.
Before that, he spent two seasons in the Latvian team “VEF Rīga”, with which he became the Latvian champion last year.
Mister pursued his basketball career in North America, where he went in 2008 when he joined the high school basketball team in New Jersey. After graduating from high school, he continued his career at the National Association of Sports Colleges (NCAA).
Misters has played in all Latvian youth teams, representing U-16, U-18 and U-20 national teams in European championships. In 2010, he won a bronze medal at the U-18 Championship.
He also debuted in the Baltic Adult Cup this summer in the Latvian adult national team, where he scored an average of 7.0 points in two matches, won 4.5 balls under baskets and distributed 2.0 assists.
Melilla’s team has been playing in the Spanish second league since 1996.
