They further state that interactions with them in international waters within Japan’s exclusive economic zone have resulted in injuries to Australian divers.
At a press conference of the Ministry of Defense of China, the spokesman Wu Qian commented that this is completely inconsistent with the facts. China firmly opposes such comments and has officially submitted a protest note to the Australian side.
Chinese ships strictly abide by international established rules such as the “Rules for Unexpected Encounters at Sea” and the “International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea”, maintain a safe distance from Australian ships, and have not engaged in activities that could affect Australian divers.
