The Minister of Industry inaugurates the Sepem exhibition in Grenoble

It was the first. Roland Lescure, Minister of Industrycame, this Tuesday November 22, to inaugurate the 3And edition of Sepem Industrie at the Alpexpo in Grenoble. He went to meet various exhibitors and above all he succeeded exchange with many young people present who have chosen the path of industry.

“I met many young people in training, boys, some girls, the minister testified at the end of his visit. This is one of the themes I want to invest in myself. 70,000 jobs are now open in French industry. There will be hundreds of thousands in the years to come. We need to make our young people want to enter the industry. I have met quite a few here in Grenoble who are extremely motivated. For some, it comes from their parents who are in the industry and have inspired them. For others, even young girls, they have decided on their own to take up this sector. I want to encourage and support them. »

The Minister welcomed the initiative of this show focused on the industrial ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of its regional character : “It’s important because the industry is often done at a regional level. This gives life to a region, schools and shops. Each industrial job creates three jobs in the region. »

“The industry is less and less painful”

This ministerial trip was also part of the industry week which takes place until Sunday and whose purpose is precisely to promote industrial professions among young people, most of whom have a negative image of them.

“Ask young people what they think of industry, they answer: industry pollutes, hurts and doesn’t paythe minister testified. The reality is that the industry cleans up. 18% of greenhouse gas emissions are related to industry. So that’s 18% of the problem, but it’s 100% of the solution. If we want to clean up transportation, we need electric cars, batteries, factories, mines. The industry is less and less painful. More and more there are ergonomics, cobots, logistics done automatically. I have seen companies here making robots that lighten industrial tasks. And finally, industry pays about 250 euros more a month than the rest of the economy. It opens up perspectives, allows you to travel, to have evolving careers. We have to make known the industry that still has an image of Epinal and it is in Grenoble that it happens! »

And to attract more girls to this branch of the economy, the minister announced that he would work with Carole Grandjean, minister of vocational education, “increase in vocational schools, the share of industry – not very present – and the share of young girls. We will highlight role models. »
