The Mercedes-AMG C 43 lost two cylinders in the new generation, but performance is not lacking

Mercedes made the world championship in early April, introducing a four-cylinder SL 43, a two-seater roadster equipped with an electric turbocharger. Now the same technology has been introduced in the new Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic sedan and station wagon.

Both cars use essentially the same engine with the code M139l, a 2-liter in-line four-cylinder equipped with 48V technology, which means, among other things, that they are mild hybrids. The combined starter-generator offers a short-term increase of 14 horsepower at lower speeds and in addition a “sailing” function.

But while the SL engine has 381 horsepower at 6,750 rpm, the C 43 has 408 hp at the same speed. The C43 also has 20 Nm more torque, namely a round 500 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

The engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. As the name suggests, the C 43 4Matic has all-wheel drive. Thanks to this, it accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 4.6 seconds.

Visually, the novelty differs from the “ordinary” C-Class Mercedes in both bumpers, the front grille with vertical lines and the four exhaust tailpipes at the rear. Inside you will find different materials, sports seats and a steering wheel with rotary knobs for selecting driving modes and further adapting technology.

The Czech price list is not yet available, the novelty will hit the market later this year.
