The mental health of Belgians will soon be assessed daily: “It is partly too late, I admit”

According to Frank Vandenbroucke, the well-being of Belgians has been neglected for too long since the start of the health crisis. He thus reveals in an interview for the Flemish daily De Zondag, that a table summarizing the mental health of Belgians will soon be provided at the same time as the figures for the coronavirus communicated by Sciensano.

“I constantly get reports on my cell phone on infections and admissions, but never on mental well-being. This needs to change in the short term. We are currently working on a dashboard on mental well-being, but it it’s partly too late, I admit it“, he confided.

But the Minister of Health is positive for the future, mainly thanks to the prospects offered by the vaccination plan. “I was so happy that the vaccination plan was ready. It gave me hope (…) The pressure on our health care services will be less and we will be able to allow ourselves a little more freedom“. Indeed, Frank Vandenbroucke specified that all the most vulnerable people should have been vaccinated for this summer.
