BVOn Thursday evening the new Flemish thriller ‘The Memory Game’ by Jan Verheyen and Lien Willaert premiered. The directing duo was the first to film the eponymous debut novel by the popular British writers couple Nicci French and enlisted Anna Drijver, Gert Winckelmans and Louis Talpe as top cast for this Belgian-Dutch co-production. Many famous people came to Kinepolis Antwerp for an exciting movie night.
‘The Memory Game’ tells the story of the Deridder family. The body of Nathalie, the then only 16-year-old daughter who disappeared 25 years ago, is found on their estate. The gruesome find puts an end to years of uncertainty, but also brings to light a long-hidden crime. When family secrets are uncovered, the present is overshadowed by the past and nothing will ever be the same again.
The leading role in this film is played by the Dutch actress Anna Drijver, best known to us from ‘Undercover’. “I love this genre myself and with Nicci French as a basis, you know that the plot is nicely complicated and layered,” she said earlier. “As a viewer, you keep puzzling along. But for my character, Eva, it’s also an intense puzzle: ‘what really happened to her childhood friend? What did she really see?” We also see Louis Talpe, Gert Winckelmans, Vic de Wachter, Gilda de Bal, Lynn van Royen and Peter Thyssen at work.
