The Medium sees confusion between reality and the spiritual world

Revealed last May, The Medium continues to install its dark and cold universe with a new trailer accompanied by a gameplay video. It is recalled that the game is developed by Bloober Team, a studio currently having the wind in its sails, which has become an exclusive partner of Microsoft. The Poles managed to stand out with titles from the psychological horror genre. We can cite Layer of Fear, Observer or more recently Blair Witch released last year. Let’s take a closer look at this new trailer with a familiar atmosphere.

It’s hard not to think of Silent Hill and its double universe isn’t it? However, The Medium seems to offer a fairly innovative gaming experience with dual simultaneous realities. In other words, the player will be able to move around two different worlds at the same time: the physical world and the spiritual one, all without any loading screen. Thus, you will be able to find clues and mechanisms that have a direct effect on the other world. An original approach on paper that we can’t wait to test with the controller in hand.

Note also that Marianne (the heroine of the game) will have special abilities in the spiritual world with in particular a power called Out of the body. But like any self-respecting horror game, strange creatures will stand in your way and stalk you. Unfortunately, the gameplay video does not show if Marianne will be able to truly defend herself against these demons.

The Medium is scheduled for the end of 2020 (no specific date at this time) on Xbox Series X and PC (Windows 10).

For the more impatient, you can already reserve your copy. For all PC pre-orders on Steam, players will receive the digital artbook and “double” soundtrack from The Medium performed by the legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, famous for the Silent Hill games, and by Arkadiusz Reikowski the Bloober Team.
