Berlin – The Thai street food market in the Preußenpark has been officially open since Sunday. This was announced by the district office of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf on Friday. Accordingly, the Thai Association Berlin eV is now the responsible market operator. There was a market with Thai specialties in the Preußenpark before, but this was illegal. The market caused trouble for residents due to a lack of trade licenses and inadequate waste disposal.
Therefore, the park is now to be continued “in accordance with regulations and in keeping with the times”. The sale of food outside the Thai meadow and outside market times will no longer be tolerated in the future, it is said.
Due to the corona pandemic, the district office has stipulated that only half of the 60 stalls envisaged in the concept are initially allowed to offer food. The market is open from Friday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The market closes again on October 31, 2021.
