The sale of a shirt to the Argentine national football team bearing the signature of Diego Maradona allowed the collection of money for a poor neighborhood in the Buenos Aires suburb covered by the stone caused by “Covid-19”.
“We will get out of that,” Maradona wrote on the shirt, a copy of which he wore at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
The shirt was supposed to be sold at auction, but eventually it would be granted by drawing a lottery of people who suggested an amount greater than the amount originally determined for the contribution.
The initiative allowed the collection of about 100 kg of food, as well as sterilizers and protective masks from Covid-19, to be distributed to the residents of the Vavaluru neighborhood.
“Diego cannot imagine the service he gave us that it is invaluable, and I will be grateful to him all my life,” said Marta Guterres, who lives in the neighborhood.
Since the start of the quarantine fifty days ago to curb the spread of the Corona virus, the poverty that was mainly affecting 35.5% of Argentines has worsened at the end of 2019, according to Social Development Minister Daniel Arroyo.
