The technique of a London taxi will appear in another model. After delivery, it will also be used by a motor home.

London EV Company Limited (LEVC), formerly known as The London Taxi Company, is a company that makes famous London taxis, nicknamed black cabs. Today, it is owned by the Chinese carmaker Geely, under whose leadership the company is gradually expanding. Default taxi so in 2019 he added a utility model using the same technology and now the third car is coming into the portfolio. It’s called an e-Camper and it’s a motorhome.
The name could evoke a purely electric drive in the bowels, but the truth is that the e-Camper is “just” a plug-in hybrid. It uses the same e-City powertrain as the already offered VN5 and delivery taxi TX, which means a combination of an electric motor and a supercharged three – cylinder with a capacity of 1.5 liters. It comes from Volvo, which, like the LEVC, is owned by the Chinese Geely.
The batteries of the car are sufficient for the stated range of up to 98 kilometers in pure electric mode, the total range is 489 kilometers.

The motorhome is directly connected to the VN5 delivery, against which the main change is the interior adapted to the character of the e-Camper. So far, the company has published only sketches of novelties that reveal a folding tent on the roof, as well as a cabin with a kitchen with an electric stove or a folding table. The manufacturer promises space for up to four people – two can sleep in a tent on the roof, two on a folding rear bench forming a bed.
“The caravan market is growing rapidly and, despite being used for coastal and rural adventures, which often include national parks and protected areas, they are still powered by petrol or diesel engines. This is a fundamental conflict; we see a shift in consumer attitudes to demand greener mobility solutions that help protect and improve air quality, ”says LEVC boss Joerg Hofmann, adding that e-Camper is responding to these changes in customer preferences.
In any case, the LEVC e-Camper will not be ready until the next camping season. The first customers will not see the car until the fourth quarter of this year. Prices start at 73,000 euros (approximately 1.86 million crowns), and the manufacturer believes that the car will attract not only in Britain, but also in other European countries, where interest in motor homes is growing due to the covid pandemic.
