The M 6.8 earthquake shook Bengkulu, but residents didn’t feel the vibration at all

KOMPAS. com – A magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in the northwest of Enggano, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu on Friday (11/18/2022) at 20.37 WIB, the residents of Bengkulu, especially the residents of Enggano Island.

Likewise with the three aftershocks that occurred, namely the M4.7, 5.6 and 4.4 earthquakes.

“The earthquake was not felt and there were no casualties or damages,” said Marlansius, a resident of Enggano Island, contacted by telephone on Friday (11/18/2022).

A resident of North Bengkulu, Sunardi, also conveyed the same thing.

He didn’t feel the shaking at all. You just discovered earthquake information from social media.

“I didn’t feel the quake. In fact, I knew from the WhatsApp group that there was information about the earthquake announced by the BMKG,” Sunardi said.

Heri Sunaryadi, a visitor to a shopping mall in Bengkulu city, also admitted that he did not feel the quake. In fact, she saw the mall visitors in a calm state.

“I was at the mall when the earthquake happened. However, no one felt the shaking was safe and calm,” Heri said.

Previously reported, a M 6.8 earthquake occurred in North West Enggano, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu on Friday (18/11/2022) at 2037 WIB.

According to Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) records, the first aftershock at 21.07 WIB had a magnitude of 4.7, then subsequent earthquakes of 5.6 were all located in Enggano, North Bengkulu Regency.
