The family had bought four season tickets for winter 2019/2020 and paid a total of almost 1,800 euros for them. Due to the Cov-Lockdowns, the lifts had to stop operating on March 16, 2020.
Family gets a quarter of the purchase price back
The District Court of St. Johann im Pongau awarded the family a bonus payment in the exact amount by which the validity of the ski tickets was reduced. It is about 49 days, which corresponds to 24 percent of the ticket prices. After the family could no longer take advantage of the ski offer, the obligation to pay also expires, so the reasoning. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
The Association for Consumer Information is currently conducting some of these model processes. If the lift operators continue to fail to reimburse the proportional costs, then they will go to the Supreme Court, stressed Beate Gelbmann, the head of the litigation department at the Association for Consumer Information.
