The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra will present the latest album this week

The new music CD of the national record company “Skani” captures two opuses of Kārlis Lāčs – “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra” and “Latvian Symphony”.

Along with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, soloists – pianist Agnese Egliņa and accordionist Artūrs Noviks have also taken part in the recording, which was performed this year in the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”.

The piano concert was created in 2013 and in its message the composer has encoded the story of the multifaceted relationship between children and parents. It had its premiere at the beginning of the same year in Riga, performed by Egliņa, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Māris Sirmas. Shortly afterwards, Egliņa together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lakstīgals also performed this concert at the 21st Liepāja International Star Festival.

The “Latvian Symphony” written in 2019 was created within the framework of the centenary symphony cycle of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra. Immediately after its unique Liepāja concert cycle, the orchestra started it to create a fund for Latvian symphonic music for future generations.

The themes and ethnic motifs of Latvian folk songs can be heard here. The history of Latvia, the formation of the state and its centenary in the half-hour-long symphony are intertwined with the current flow of Latvian time.

Both Lācis and conductor Lakstīgala will take part in the presentation of the album on December 30 in the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”.
