CN Barcelona has reported the news through its social networks. “The CNB reaches the round of 16 in Europe. The LEN rectifies and disqualifies the Hungarian team (BVSC Zuglo), awarding the rightful place for the round of 16. Congratulations team.”

The controversy arose on the last day. The match between Zuglo and Lille ended with a 7-6 victory for Zuglo. However the French demanded improper alignment of the Hungarians. For its part, CN Barcelona beat Greek Panionios 15-5.

After this meeting, the LEN decided to repeat the match between French and Hungarians. The only result that could be left out of the round of 16 was a draw of more than 13 goals. And the result between Lille and Zuglo was 15-15 and therefore both were classified and Barcelona eliminated. There was a triple tie at 5 points between the three teams.

The outrage of the team trained by Víctor González was total and from various institutions the LEN was complained to. On Monday night, the European Swimming League has decided to disqualify BSVC Zuglo of Hungary for improper alignment and it is Barcelona who takes his place alongside Lille.

Thus, in the hype for the round of 16 of the men’s water polo Eurocup will be three Spanish teams: CN Sabadell, CE Mediterrani and CN Barcelona.
