The legendary Pele died at the age of 82

Former Brazilian soccer player Pelé has died at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer.

The disease was detected in Pele in the fall of 2021, after which the 82-year-old Brazilian underwent chemotherapy, but subsequently the body stopped responding to it, and therefore his condition gradually began to deteriorate.

Pelé is the only player in history to have won the World Cup three times as a player (in 1958, 1962 and 1970). In total, for the Brazilian national team, he scored 77 goals in 92 games (from 1957 to 1971). At club level, Pele played for the Brazilian Santos, with whom he won the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup twice (in 1962 and 1963), and the American New York Cosmos.

We add that in 2000 Pele was recognized as the best footballer of the 20th century.
