The Lactic Guys of K-Rémo Support Nîmes Handi Club with 500 Euros Donation

The Lactic Guys of K-Rémo presented last Thursday a check for 500 euros to the Handi Club Nîmois association created in 2000 by Alexandre Trottier, joined by Kieran Peloso and Nicolas Fabre.

And three. Following their football tournament organized on June 10, at the Renaud-Ripart stadium in La Calmette, the Lactic Guys from K-Remo collected the sum of 500 euros. An envelope dedicated to an association or a structure, such is the aim of the operation. Thus, after the gerontopsychiatry association of the Nîmes University Hospital and the social children’s home, La Providence, the Lactic Guys from K-Remo have decided to support the Nîmes Handi Club.

Created in 2000 by Alexandre Trottier, joined by Kieran Peloso and Nicolas Fabre, this association specializes in disabled sports such as blowpipe, boccia and electric wheelchair football. Note that the wheelchair football World Cup is currently being played – from October 15 to 23 – in Australia. France has between 400 and 500 licensees, it is the third most practiced disabled sports discipline.

“It’s a release. On the field, we clear our heads. We forget all the worries of daily life”

Two teams play in D3 and D4 within the Nîmes Handiclub. Among these wheelchair footballers, Léo, 19, suffers from cerebral palsy (CP). “It’s the only sport he can practice given his pathology.“, indicates Alexandre. The young man, an intern at the Medical Educational Institute (IME) La Cigale in Nîmes, has been in the field for ten years. “It requires both mental strength and stability, you shouldn’t think just because you’re in an armchair doesn’t mean it’s not tiring.“And the same continues:”It’s a release. On the pitch, we clear our heads. We forget all the worries of daily life.“His teammate Maxime, 16, enjoys every match:”Whether we lose or win, we stay united. There is a lot of communication between us, a real team spirit.”

The Nîmes Handi Club benefits from public subsidies (City of Nîmes, Department of Gard and Occitanie Region) but also from essential sponsorships to enable it to survive. And in particular to finance armchairs manufactured and imported from the United States. Cost per unit: €12,000, excluding maintenance. “And they have to be renewed approximately every two years.“, underlines the president. So thanks to the Lactic Guys from K-Remo, 500 euros were added to the piggy bank, greeted by broad smiles. And already the benefactor footballers, through their president, Cyril Cerezo, are planning their 4th charity tournament, still in La Calmette, in June 2024.
