The Klampfe music bar will be closed permanently

The guitar is closed: landlady Helga Mischur tapped the beer for the 25th anniversary of the music pub in March 2019.

Many sad emojis were the reaction to a recently published post by Klampfe landlady Helga Mischur on the social network Facebook. “The guitar says bye, thanks for the 27 great years …”, you can read there. And it’s true. The music bar, which has been an important part of the Witzenhausen cultural landscape for years, has been officially closed since December 31st.

Witzenhausen – It was not an easy decision for Helga Mischur to close her restaurant, but the most sensible one: “I recently turned 70 and Corona made it very difficult for us,” said the landlady. The past year was “catastrophic”, she says. Over the summer it was still possible to somehow shimmy, but the renewed lockdown and the associated closure had caused great damage. “We weren’t able to build up any reserves this year and at my age I wasn’t ready to take out a loan so I could keep the bar for another year or two,” says the Klampfe boss.

Unfortunately, she was looking for a successor in vain: “Times have become more difficult,” says Helga Mischur. The Klampfe project is more for someone who is looking for a hobby but does not have to live on the income. She found a completely new concept promising, but one that would also involve high financial outlay and would also be a risk. She is no longer willing to accept this.

Many artists and guests are sad about the final stroke. That is why the decision was not an easy one for her and her team: “We had many good years, the closure is a decision made out of reason, a decision that had to be made,” says Helga Mischur. It is difficult for her to say it. As a memento of the good time in his favorite pub, a regular guest asked for the counter clock to hang up at home.

Helga Mischur was happy to comply with this request and has already handed over the souvenir. She particularly regrets that it was a silent ending, that the Klampfe just won’t open again after the lockdown. That’s why it shouldn’t have been completely. “I’m hoping for a great big farewell party, maybe in summer,” says Helga Mischur. With a lot of music, of course: “One more time and then that’s it.”

The 70-year-old doesn’t want to withdraw completely. She wants to remain a member of the board of the Witzenhausen cultural community and continue to be involved. “I’m not out of the world,” she promises. And she has not yet completely given up hope of a successor. However, he would not only have to take over the guitar, but also buy the house on Brückenstrasse, on the ground floor of which the music bar is located. (hbk)
